Any impressions of it? I would be buying for collecting and not using, so I suppose it doesn't matter that much. I just would like to know anyone's opinion who has it. Thanks.

I was interested when I first head about them releasing the new Mk II, but my enthusiasm cooled when I found out that they were omitting some of the features (wasp wasted blade, etc.) that made the original so unique.

I don't see much value in it for collecting purposes. Personally, if you have the money, I would try and track down an original or perhaps one of the Cutlery Shop limited edition models from a few years ago, which were much more faithful to the original.

Just my 2c

i got to handle one at sportsmans warehouse the other day. i had one back in the late '80's but like an idiot i sold it.

the handle fit nicely into my hand and worked well in the regular and reverse holds. it was light weight but seemed very solid with a blade heavy feeling, which i like. i just was very glad to see this model back at an affordable price and may get mine as soon as i can catch up on the bills.

the one thing that didnt impress me was the serrations . they are Chisel ground which means that it has flat sides to each of the blades of each tooth, it doesnt have the tips that come to a point and scalloped indents like most serrated knives do. i feel that these serrations on the MK II wont be effective for cutting rope because they will get caught on the flat sides. i'm not sure what good these will do. this still wont keep me away from the MK II.
