THe milf has a new puter and wants to print and file share with her vista system on our network of XP computers..with a linksys wireless router...how do I do this ...I have been screwing around with it for a hour trying to figure it out...PITA!!!I%%%####!!!

I'd start by formatting the hard drive and installing XP :D
My only experience with Vista so far has been on my little sister's new computer, and that was enough to convince me to avoid Vista like the plague. I'm debating switching to Linux when they drop XP support.

Alright Ren,

Here is an explanation (maybe)

On this page http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pr...
MSoft say: "The most important first step is to choose a wireless router that is Certified for Windows Vista. Look for the Certified for Windows Vista logo to ensure a wireless router is Certified for Windows Vista. These routers offer the most reliable performance for streaming your entertainment and also enable easier setup and maintenance. When you see this logo, you can be assured that the wireless router has been specifically tested to work with Windows Media Center Extenders. The presence of the logo also eliminates the challenge of trying to interpret sometimes confusing claims and specifications from routers that are not certified. All wireless routers that are Certified for Windows Vista support dual-band wireless networking. This means that the router operates at two different frequencies—the standard 2.4-GHz frequency and, all-important for video and TV, the 5-GHz frequency...... etc etc"

I have the same thing. A laptop running XP and a new laptop running Vista. I called Linksys and they had me upload a file and then everything was OK.

Depends on what security your network has- it sounds like Linksys has been able to get a fix out, which almost surprises me, but I will be less surprised if it doesn't work or dies because of an update.

Vista has been a nightmarish kludge for every admin I know. I work IT and I've already gone on the record that I'll switch to Macs before I load Vista onto my personal machines. It makes Me look like a finished and functional product.

Mine has been running since Jan. So far I have only had to reboot the modem and network once because of a power outage. Knock wood.
