www.mcmaster.com sells Standard and High-Speed quenching oil.
I called the to get more details like brand etc. but they have a policy not to tell who is manufacturer etc.(???)

Which oil is better for O-1 blade quenching? Standard or High-Speed?

Thanks,
Alex

I have been using the McMaster oils for about six months now. The fast oil with Admirals 1075 and the standard with Timkin O1. Both work fine. No fumes and no flame ups with my setup.

I would think that High Speed quench would be handy for my gun springs. Thanks for the link!

Ray Rogers on www.knifenetwork.com told me that he is using Tough Quench which is high speed oil on O-1 without heating it up with good result.

I'll get high-speed oil for O-1.
What about AST-34, 440C and other stainless, can it be any problem quenching them in hight speed oil?

Bruce -- you picked up some Parks 50 didn't you? I'm not sure if they get much faster than that stuff.

Robert, Yes I make them out of 1095 I use the evenheat oven and Tough Quench from Brownells.

Michael, I went for 3 more gallons of Tough Quench. Ive had consistant results with it. Im not sure where it stacks up with the other oils speeds?
