Any one want to build a Soldier a knife for deployment?

Hey Knife-Makers,

Been looking for a while for someone to make me a fixed blade designed to go down range with me. If any interest please let me know, thank you very much for checking out this post.

Wish I could, no time right now. Check out Horton's stuff in his subforum here. Very stout, high-quality stuff with good, ergonomic handles.
 
I Just photographed a series of 40 completed knives built for active Soldiers. The project was supported on another Knife forum (knifedogs.com), and the good intention is the same. All the knives are purposefully designed and handmade finished. I do NOT know if they are all accounted for, but an email to this soldier/knifemaker will answer that for you.

I just finished this one the other day and thought it would do well in a military setting. Not sure if it's along the lines of what you're looking for, but if you like it, it's yours. My payment will be the pride of knowing it serves one of America's finest. :)

I forged it from some 1/4" thick 1084 carbon steel and fully hardened the blade. Overall length is just a bit under 9" with about a 4" cutting edge. The flats were left with a forge finish and the bevels have a simple 800-grit cork-belt finish. The full tang handle is wrapped in cord to keep it nice and slim. The wrap also provides solid purchase in the hand and can be removed if you happen to find yourself in need of some cord.

It's not pretty, it's not fancy, but it's strong, it's tough, it's sharp, and it will serve its owner faithfully for many many years. If you want it just send me your APO address and let me know your carry requirements so I can make a suitable sheath.

BTW, I was involved in the KnifeDogs military build and I believe that all the knives are spoken for. Some are going to a Marine EOD unit and the rest to a multi-branch security force.
 
Thank you Paratrooper. I mean that. I do love this country, but there is no truer patriot than the man who volunteers to wear his nation's uniform and defend its Constitution. For that, sir, you have my deepest gratitude and sincerest respect.

By the way, kind of an interesting story about how this little knife came to be... Weekend before last, a friend of mine came over to visit and I took him out to the workshop to show him a little of what I do out there. Well, before long the forge was glowing and the anvil was ringing with the sound of hammers forging hot steel. We worked in the shop for many hours, each of us making a knife from start to finish as I demonstrated basic forging, grinding, and heat treating techniques and gave him some guidance along the way. When Keith walked out of there that afternoon he had a cool new knife in his hand and a big smile on his face. The knife I made didn’t come out too shabby either.

Anyway, Keith is an Army veteran who proudly served in the 10th Mountain Division, a light infantry unit that has been deployed in just about every major conflict the U.S. has been involved in over the last few decades. When I finished the knife I made while he was here I decided that I wanted a soldier to have it. Seemed fitting. A few days later I logged onto Bladeforums and saw Paratrooper1989's post and thought, "this knife has just found its soldier."

I'll rig up a sheath and have it in the mail for you posthaste. I'd like to get this in your hands as soon as I can.

Thats an awesome story, 10th mountain replaced us in Afghanistan last year. Im in 173D Airborne Brigade "SKY-SOLDIERS". Im a Paratrooper and always ready for a fight, ill be proud to take this knife into combat with me and well send pictures of it down there in the year coming. thank you again, i cant wait to have it!
