i really like the this design (texas jack in cv), but abhor blade play. any opinions on these?

Mine was first class out of the box and still is over a year later.A fine combination, cv with Amber Bone. No blade wobble on mine or spring faults, just a very good Traditional knife. I wish CASE offered it in more scale choices (there is some foul lime green offering but that doesn't count in my book!)

It is a sweet little gem of a knife. I bought one several months ago and it has put all my other knives out of business. I'm a carpenter and the jack is up to all tasks--from sharpening my pencils to rounding the corners of LVL's so the fit snugly into hangers.

I really like mine. Excellent fit and finish with zero blade play. Easy on the pocket yet still big enough for most jobs.

I love mine -- it is the same size/shape as the square-bolstered medium stockman they offer in the amber bone/CV combo (which I also have.) I really like the size and shape of the pen blade on the Texas Jack. It is just a little beefier than the one on the stockman and is oh so handy. Mine has nice snap, no blade play, good fit and finish.

I have been looking at these for a long time. I like the two blade jack style. Can you pinch the large blade open with thumb and finger?

I love mine. No complaints. No blade wobble at all. nice fit and finish. I just wish it was SS instead of CV.

What! I'm not sure I am.... I mean I don't..... Well you know..... Aww crap I don't know what to say! I love CV. :D

I understand:thumbup:

They are doing this lime green model in Trusharp I alluded to earlier. I like green, it's my favourite colour, but that shade:eek:

I really like mine. It is one of the best in it's class. I wrote a review on it. Maybe someone can dig it up for you.

God Bless

Heres a 10 dot that has been spendin time in my pocket for the last few months... I really haven't found anything to fault with this pattern, actually it has become one of my favorites.

The Texas jack is a hard working pattern of a tradtional two bladed jackknife. It should do anything another knife can do, if not better. CV is a great steel for a knife. With just a tiny bit of care, it should last long enough for it to be a valued item to your son.

Can you pinch the main blade open?

I can't pinch mine open. I have big hands and there just isn't enough space to get a good hold...
Possibly if a person has very small hands they could.
As far as blade play is concerned, Most folks seem to have good reports on the currrent production knives from Case.

I love mine.

I have an old 1993 model in red bone and CV and a green bone in SS

The CV is much nicer, in my opinion.

:)

For one with round bolsters, if you don't mind stainless, they have this one at Shepherd Hills Cutlery (there's also a stag version). The pen blade is longer and skinnier than on the Texas Jack:
