Anyone have an opinion on the Blackjack Trailguide II's or III's?

They look to be a very stout knife made from a great steel, but I have not heard much about them here at bladeforums.

I think it's a great knife but it's a bit larger than it appears. It's really a short Randall Model 1.

I suggest you check out the Black Jack forum at knifeforum.com

Gus has one and is very impressed with it. He would not admit it but he still picks up a few production knives every year. Much better knife (heads above) the original version and those were good knives. It is a tough well made puppy. Take care of that A2 steel and you will be happy. It makes a great small camp knife.

Oops the old ones were A2 these are 52100.

I picked up a Trailguide in a trade, and I am very impressed with the fit & finish. The stacked leather handle knives had never really appealed to me, but I must say the handle on my Blackjack is really nice, and it smells great :)
The convex edge is incredibly sharp! Good lord, this thing is scary sharp. I really had thought I had some sharp knives, but the Trailguides convex edge puts my other edges to shame.
The only knife I have ever had that was possibly as sharp was one of the Marbles Plainsman.

The Blackjack Trailguides appear to be a fantastic bargain, so I'm a bit surprised that I had not heard more about them before I got this one.
