I want to get a small knife that is easy to open with one hand....liked the look of the D'Alton Holder.

Can anyone give me a little info on this great little knife.

Thanks

Ken Lau

Hi Ken.
I really like the Toad and have 3 of them.
They are regarded as ugly by the majority of formites, and likely are not a best seller at Spyderco. Chances are that they will be discontinued some day.
I have a spare tucked away in my safe. One sits atop my computer desk, and one is in the dash tray of my car.
They clip to and carry well in the watch pocket of blue jeans.
The fit and finish of the knife is extraordinary. The walker-type lock is very oversized and confidence inspiring. The clip is the perfect size, as is the blade for it's indended "domestic" service.
To me, the Toad is the most mechanical-looking knife in Spyderco's line. I think it is a cool looking little knife.
The hole in the blade and the corresponding access flute in the scale, as well as the locking mechanizm, are all in the perfect place for a small knife.
It is fun to hold, open and close. A true feel-good-in-the-hand experience.
It is somewhat expensive for its size, but worth every dollar spent,IMO.
Keep your eyes open as there are some bargains out there.

Bill! Been a while....I remember that you advised me on my first Spyderco, the Wegner Jr some time back (about a year) here at Bladeforums, and I'm glad to say that it proved to be a very solid performer.

Now the Toad got my attention when I first saw it. Personally, I think that it looks like a great little knife. I think that with that clipped to my pants, it'd be the least intimidating Spyderco to my work colleagues and I'd feel more confident to whip it out to use.

I'm looking to get a few spydies soon...Military, Starmate and either the Toad or a Harpy.....decisions decisions....

Thanks again...
Ken

Go for it Ken!
The Toad is almost invisable clipped to my watch pocket. Only 1/4" shows, and it's hard to tell its a knife.
Good hearing from you.
Bill

Hi Billy! Hi Ken!
Ditto to everything Bill said. I LOVE this knife. I've always sung the praises of little folders, (I like big ones also), but a small folder is the one you'll have with you in a pinch.
The Toad is as quality as they come and I can't think of a more unique and overbuilt little knife. I also love the looks of this little guy and am looking for a second one.
You can't go wrong with this one Ken.
