greetings all,
saw one at the px and was wondering if anybody has an evaluation. am mostly concerned on the lock-up. a lot of up-down play? at 39.00, would think it would be a pretty good inexpensive EDC. wouldn't think it would lockup like a ZT but would appreciate any input. thanks and best regards to all.

I own one and have been EDCing it for a while. Got it for ~$32 online. It's the next generation of the EZ-out. Easily opens & closes one-handed, comfortable handle and also has that finger-choil to choke if desired. Lock-up is solid, no play, mine handles light spine-whacks without issue. I've used it for some rather heavy work as well, cutting up old carpet, cutting roots, rope, etc. It has good edge geometry and the coating is very durable. The serrations penetrate well cutting rope, and are strong enough to carve wood. The main things to keep in mind are the fine tip and the lack of steel liners. Because of the lack of liners, it weighs only 2.6 oz, but using it heavily (which the large handle almost encourages one to do) you can feel it flex when pushed to far. I haven't taken it to destruction, but I prefer the confidence of steel liners when doing heavier work. It's also relatively thin, not a pry-bar style folder as many are. It's a lightweight, comfortable, aggressive folder for utility work. If/when they come out with unserrated versions or an S30V blade, I'll buy one without hesitation.

Looks like a good knife for stuff in the field. I'd expect good general use, opening MRE's, cutting line, cutting boxes, emergency defense, but no real financial loss if it is lost on a field ex. Gerbers should be growing in the wild at Ft. Benning, Ft. Lewis, and Camp Roberts I've lost so many of them.

Oh man, that was good!

I had an Edict for a month or so. It was a pretty solid knife. Solid lockup, and strong tanto blade of 154CM. It's nice to see some American-made Gerbers again. I don't expect any groundbreaking stuff from them, but this new wave (Order, Edict, Decree) seems to be priced ok for what they are: mid-level beaters.
