Nope, but while in the navy I spent a long weekend in Perth drinking Aussie beer. I don't remember much about it though.

Do all aussie knives come with opals mounted in the handles made of dingo jaws? I see lots of camel bone scales on knives and heard they are still roaming abut!???

Perth West Aus. - Great beer, beautiful beach babes, hope you sampled our finest and can remember the memorable bits.

Boilermaker - I am not a knife maker, but a West Aussie who has a sharp implement or two. Their are a few Aussie makers that frequent this site who knock up some sweet cuttlery.

G'day Boilermaker,

There are some good aussie makers. I've got quite a few & met more makers at the Aussie knifemakers guild show in May. Are you after some style in particular?

I remember the seas were rough as hell and the rest was sort of a blurr.

What's east of Perth, what little I can remember there wasn't much for a good ways.

Any particular knife shape or style unique to AUS? Rabbit skinners?

Not that I know of, but now that you say it... Perhaps the khurkri is boomerang inspired. :D

Ek made an Australian designed knife based on a cut down 303 bayonet.

It might be worth getting in touch with the Australasian Knife Collectors club to see if they have a list of makers.

am new to all this forum stuff still amazed at how quick the correspondance is. always amazeses me that i can be on a yank website talking to aussies.
Hopefully will have some pictures of my knives to post soon, but at the moment am working on a portable knife forging and grinding outfit that i am sticking together with my new WIA 165 inverter welder (expensive as hell but a little ripper anyway :thumbup: ) If anyone can tell me how to put pics into these posts i will put a pic of the beltgrinder i made (copy of the bader) with 3phase motor run through a 240-3phase speed controller (grinds metal and skin like crazy as i found out the first time i used it :( ) will post pics of my other projects too for a bit of destructive criticism!

boilermaker;

The Gallery, would be a great place to post pictures of your work, and so forth on display for others to view, and comment on.

To post pictures, you need to upload them from your computer onto a hosting site. There are many free sites to register an account with if you haven't already done so (eg. Photobucket.com), and then you just have to paste a link, or copy/paste the IMG tag onto the forum, and we should all be able to view your work.

In the Community section, there is also a forum dedicated to the Asian and Australian Community also. Plus there is a Makers forum, dedicated to knifemakers such as yourself.

Hope this helps, and it's always good to see Australians making their own knives. :)
