I love this SAK. I own 3 of them, one red and two black. I've been carrying one of the black ones for I don't know how many years. Prior to that, I carried a black Classic SD for many years. No matter what, I always have my black Executive in my pocket, except in any no-knives zones (courthouse, sports event, airport, etc.). It gets used in some capacity every single day.

Years ago, I even read somewhere that there was an experienced outdoorsman/survivalist whose knife of choice was a Vic Executive.

I have an Executive too, which I don't carry very often, but it certainly is a good SAK. If Victorinox would make a variant with two differences to this model, than it would be even better for me:
1. Replace the nail cleaner at the end of the nail vile with a flathead screw driver.
2. Replace the orange peeler with a combo tool like the one on the Manager, with bottle opener and philips screw driver.

I like mine as well, but it doesnt get much pocket time either, the Huntsman and Pioneer see much more daylight.

I prefer to have some more tools with me, i. e. lager scissors.

It recently became my fruit-knife, the orangepeeler works excellent, the blades have the right size for the job...watermellons excluded ;-)

I'll take one of those!

The executive actually has become my go to knife as I have changed jobs and am now in the classroom as a teacher. At lunch I use it to cut up apples; or whatever, and have used it to open mail, remove staples, cut paper for a bulletin board, pick my teeth, and many other tasks. Other teachers have commented on the usefullness of it and I have yet to have a teacher scream, "OMG, you have a knife?!?" I don't use it when in the presence of students as I wouldn't want any controversy or issues arising from it. It fits nicely in my pants pockets without weighing me down and seems to be an all around winner. The black handles seem to add a touch of elegance to an otherwise inexpensive, classic knife. Thumbs up for this one!

I'm definately an executive fan! got a red vintage one and a new one in black... actually the 74mm SAKs really atract me since the knife is more longer than classic so its more usefull in some daily cutting task...

recently i bought a couple of 74mm ambassador... one in camo, one in white with some yellow and purple ornament... i definately prefer it than the classic.... gonna get me some more of these!

still i use a black classic with piano keys picture on the scale on my USB flashdisk.

as much as i love the executive, still its a very light duty SAK for me... very usefull... the orange peeler is legendary, just wish they put a combo tool for bottle opener and screwdriver... its gonna be more versatile... but honesly, which executive person open their own bottle?hehehe... luv the executive!

The Executive was the first knife I bought when I was old enough to buy my own. I still have it but don't carry it anymore. I prefer a larger SAK.

The man in question was Chuck Yeager, Brig. Gen. U.S.A.F. retired.

In one of the knife magazines, in the "The Knife I carry" page, General Yeager was shown in a photo holding out his well used executive. He stated that it was his favorite knife, and was handy in keeping his nails well trimmed on camping/fishing trips in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

In his Book "Press On" where he writes about his long two and three week trout fishing trips in the Sierra with his best friend Col. Bud Anderson, he states that to keep weight down in his pack, he leaves his fishing knife home and just uses his pocketknife. He found the executive to be all the knife he needed to clean fish and whatever else.

From a life long sportsman like Chuck Yeager, who has hunted and fished just about everywhere, that's a hell of an endorsement.

Yep = the Executive was my first Vic - Dad brought it home from Switzerland in the mid 60's -(metal ended tweezer) still have it and still use it on occasion - I've gotten a couple more recent versions also - as to what it will do - I even used the small blade to gut out and skin a deer (on a bet) and it worked just fine!

anybody also own or use executive little brother the 74mm ambassador?

it seem the blade size would do some daily urban or office task.... great story about the ourdoorsman who actually make a full use of it outdoors!

The Ambassador is in my keychain-knife rotation and I use it regularly. It is a bit larger than the Classic and therefore a bit more useful, IMO. It is not very heavy. The blade works fine for opening envelopes and packages and having foldable scissors in your pocket at the office is also very handy. If I don't carry an other SAK, than I take it off the keychain and put it in my pocket when I'm at the office.

Thanks for the info, Jackknife! I will have to get a copy of that book. This is but one more example of a very knowledgeable knife user who can do things with a knife that most people would not expect that knife to accomplish.
