Can anyone recommend a truly excellent choice in a somewhat "old Western" look production Bowie knife in the under $200.00 price range?
I have seen pics of the Linder line, the Laredo Bowie, and the Beretta Bowie,
but do not have a clue which ones are particularly good. Looking for one with fairly decent steel, stainless, polished.

Stainless is going to be harder to find. I'd recommend finding one of the Camillus OVB Fisk Bowies. Sometimes they can be had for $200, and they are beautiful and also useful.

Case makes a bowie that don't suck. about 125 or so, black plastic handle, which DO suck.

If you haunt Ebay you can find a Stag Handled one, or you could get one and re-haft it.

The former likely would run you 2 and change, might get lucky, the 2nd you could probably accomplish for the 200.

I've got to say that the Case Bowie is a very very serious knife that gets almost no respect cause they aren't USED.

Folks display em. Grab one out of the box and whack an unwanted 3-4 inch evergreen. Stand Back!.. it's gonna land somewhere..

REALLY good knives for the money.
