I've been kicking around my next purchase and I'm considering getting a couple of tops knives. I'm just looking for some overall impressions about quality and manufacture.

anyone got any personal pics of their own TOPS knife?

Here are the two I'm considering.

THANKS ALL!!

Some of their designs are cool, but all of the knives are overpriced for what you get, IMHO.

One of my first "real" knives was a steel eagle.
It felt great in my hand, and I really liked it.
A suggestion that I would also like to recommend,
is Fehrman knives, which are custom, but reasonably priced.

I wouldn't have guessed them for being "over" priced. They seem to be well designed, using 1095 HC which I'm beginning to realize the benefits of (specifically that I can abuse it an resharpen it in the field) and pretty decent blade geometry.

Anyone here actually own one and not been pleased??

c'mon help a newbie out. I actually plan to use this in an "official" capacity, not just for hobby stuff, so I could use some input. THANKS!!

TOPS knives are generally very well made. They are tough and will probably lasts two lifetimes.
The price is subjective. If you like them, you really don't care too much about the price.

The bottom line is: Are you happy with the knife?

many may consider them to be over priced. my outlook/opinion on them?

You're getting:

A mom and pops operation made in the US of A (others out there too)
I have yet to find one that doesn't feel good in the hand (I have pretty good size hands)
They are tough
Well Made
The customer service is awesome
I never have had anything bad to say about my Steel Eagle 107C

Now, you must take everything with a grain of salt. There are many companies out there that meet the above criteria. If it appeals to you, and you feel at peace about buying one, I say GO FOR IT!!!
I like them very much and wouldn't hesitate to buy one, unless I found a busse, but that is another matter. My opinion (and others may/will disagree: Ain't America wonderful that we can do that? :D ) would be to buy a Tops and use it for all it's worth
