I would like to hear from anyone who owns the above mentioned knife, both the good and the bad.

thanks much:)

...Like the 2006 BCCI Members-Only knife, you mean???... ;)

That would be an interesting read...

Nelly, The Buck Collectors Club has a yearly knife for members only.

This year it is an Alpha Dorado folder. Last year it was a fixed blade.

Try the search feature...was some words about it when it first came out.. I don't have one...yet

Nah, you're up to speed!!! :D I thought you were pondering ordering the BCCI knife...and wanted more info on it...like I do...

I couldn't remember if the Dorado was the big one or the little one... ;) The Dorado is the little one...The one I want is the Model 277 Folding Alpha Hunter (the one without the guthook)... :)

Got one 154cm .... scary sharp rides well on the belt with the sheath.
keep it above my front left jeans pocket.Only had it a week but have used it everyday.... swapping cutting chores with my 89' 110.... she's on my right
hip.:D

i already have mine but have yet to use it. it is so beautiful a blade i don't want to mess it up. i guess i will wear it the next time i wear khakis.

this is why i wanted info because i'm to cautious to test it myself :D

Hey nelly1974, can't give you any info on the materials used (don't have the knowledge base), but I bought one a few weeks ago, and I don't think I've ever owned a small knife that I liked any better - every day I like it more (though I'm worried that I'm going to wear out the pivot pin from opening it so much). It fits my hand like it was made for it. I bought it as an EDC user (bushcraft junkie) and it is the 420HC (?) steel. I decided on this steel because it sharpens easier.

Anyway, to sum up, unlike some of the other guys here, I don't have lots of cash to spend on knives, but I like this knife so much, I'm going to buy another one, this time in 154CM (?), after all, you do have to dress up every once in awhile. :)

:) Doc :)

I just received mine a couple days ago (ATS-34 version), so all I have right now are initial impressions, which are these:

*Fit and finish is very good. The edge belly as it approaches the tip within about .10" or so seems to straighten out or recurve a bit, which makes a noticeable irregularity in the otherwise smooth curve. Let me emphasise it is slight. I don't consider it an issue as with a couple sharpenings it will probably work itself out.
*Lock up is great. The liner snaps in place w/ authority and there is no play whatsoever.
*Sharpness out of the box is very good.
*It handles well, ergonomics are good.
*The sheath is not good. I cannot get the snap closed w/o really forcing the knife into it. I will probably have to wet-form it before the knife will fit properly. Not up to what I usually expect from Buck.

Overall I am very pleased with it so far and look forward to getting into the rotation. Recommended.

Had the same issue with mine but it only took a few days of dry fitting it and leaving it over night for the sheath to stretch out and form itself nicely around the knife. Make sure that you have the thumb stud facing toward the flap.
Judging by how mine fits now, I believe that with the unique shape of the knife and sheath if it were any looser initially it would probable become to loose after extended use.

I love the knife.......enjoy!

Well I was going to just dry fit as Mike suggested, but impatience got the better of me and I wet-formed it anyway. Took all of ten minutes and the result was a perfect fit, so that issue has been resolved as far as I'm concerned.

Well Blue Sky you're obviously from New York........ Just kidding! ;) I'm an ex NY'r myself but after about 30 years in FLA I've almost learned to slow down. :D

But after all, it's really just a matter of what works for you isn't it. I'm glad you were able to quickly solve your problem. I know you'll enjoy that knife.
