Along with shootist16 "any watch forums out there?" thread, I have to ask if there are any "35mm photography forums" on the 'net, (aside from Freds' "PhotoForums" and that "photo.net" one)?

Up until a few weeks ago, photo.net was the best general photography forum in the world. That has, unfortunately, changed. (Write to me if you want the long explanation of why you should avoid photo.net.)

Since photo.net went downhill, many of us ex-photo.netters have been looking for a good alternative. The general consensus is that the best alternative is photosig.com. However, I've heard that, while it may be the best alternative, it is still not that great. I've yet to try it.

There is also photocritique.com. It has good points and bad points.

Are you looking to get your pictures critiqued? Looking for equipment reviews? Hot tips on photo locations? I might be able to give you better leads if you tell me precisely what sort of forum you are looking for.

What I'm looking for is the "BladeForums of photography"....A site that covers all aspects of photography in the same way that BladeForums does for knives.:).

One more example of how Bladeforums has spoiled us.

Maybe we should start our own watch/photography forum? ;)

kelso,

Thanks for the link, but I'm pretty much only "into" film-cameras (Canon EOS).:).

I was going to recommend Photo.net, but with Evolute's condemnation, I'll have to wait till I hear what's happened. I used to hit that site every few months or so. My visit last night was the first in several months.

I'm a film fan myself. I haven't seen any digital cameras in my price range that impressed me. Plus, I don't like to take sensitive electronics out into the wilderness. Hell, I still use an all manual SLR (have a autofocus P&S,a Ricoh R-1, but it's showing the abuse after 6 years).

Have you tried Kodak's Elite Chrome 100 slide film? I ran several rolls through my Olympus OM1 last year (including 6 in Mexico). The colors were fantastic.

I second the motion.

They have a lot of forums for different types of photography. It's broken down by manufacturer - really helps to get your know your camera better.
