I,m taking muttly the wonder dog on longer walks these days to try and get back into shape . I,ve also got a fun tournament coming up . Its held in muddy , hilly terrain . Once in a while they throw in a blizzard just for fun . As long as its treated like a marathon its a great tournament . If you treat it like a tournament it turns into a marathon .Cold wet feet and frozen fingers take the joy out of most endeavors . Heavy rubber boots , sweaters and windbreakers are the order of the day with special shooting gloves and lotsa hot coffee to top it off . Throw in an extra dozen arrows cause the guys who hold this thing must own arrow companies . They find a myriad of ways to cajole you into losing or breaking arrows and sanity .

On these miniature hikes I take my calves stiffen up a bit . No prob . I,ll just do a runners stretch where you lean against something and extend/stretch one leg behind you with the balls of the toes on the ground . You slowly lower the heel while exhaling . This stretches out the calf muscles just fine . Might I add it feels great also . Muscles returning to a semblance of good tone .
My question is . Is there an exercise for the rest of the leg muscles as well ? Its mostly just above the knee that gets stiff . Its not a bad feeling just my muscles saying , what ? You want us to work ? These have to be mild stretches as its been quite a while .

Kismet my dear limber philosophical friend . Parts of that exercise would have me vomitting uncontrolably . It does look great . The leg stretching part may even be feasible . As far as any bending of the back goes it must be done with extreme caution and to a limited degree . I hesitate to modify an exercise without knowing what I,m doing . I,ll see if the limits imposed by my body will allow me to gain benefit from it . Are there no exercises that focus upon the legs specificly without involving the upper body ?

Thanks Josh . That seems like a good routine . most of the exercises can be done outdoors which is the best part .
