So I am the proud new owner of the HEST and the Izula II. I have been carrying the Izula as a neck knife or just in my pocket and that has been working out ok. I have the HEST with the Molle lock mounted to my Camelback and that's working well. I like the HEST kydex sheath but can't figure out the best way to waist carry it. I really dont like the paracord tying to the belt method.

I prefer waist carry (on the belt or inside the waistband is fine) and have searched and haven't found many pics of how you are doing this (I will conceal the knife with an untucked shirt). If inside the waist how to you draw the knife without filleting yourself?!

-So how are you carrying your ESEE knives on your waistband? (any model)
-What sheaths do you prefer for this?
-Pics would be great!

Thanks from a newly addicted ESEE fan! Great product! :D

i have also carried it horizontally at the small of the back on the molle locks that come with the knife. drawing and resheathing you need to be careful so you don't ventilate a cheek.

This is how I've set mine up for right-handed, horizontal waist carry. I didn't have any zip ties so I used a piece of string and looped it around the top; two pieces would have made two nice little bands and it could be worn for either left-handed or right-handed draw.

I mostly like casual style clothes like sweatpants, cargo shorts, etc. Most of them don't have belt loops, so I just use a piece of string.

Would have posted a pic of actual carry, but I had a hard enough time getting this pic to show up good. Plus my gut probably would obscure where I keep the knife, as I keep it right out in front of me like it was a fannypack.

I've never cut myself or my clothing on accident drawing it from this position. No real secret to it that I know of, but I do noticed that I kind of pull the sheath up and away a little before pulling the knife out.

Anyway, I'm sure it would work just as well on a belt as on a draw-string.

Edit:

Oh yeah, forgot to say: The Izula sheath totally rocks. Please don't ever change it.

One of my 3's. Using paracord for belt carry on an instructors belt. I like the knife to ride high.

I use my thumb to push off when drawing my knives
When re-sheathing in scout carry, I'll orient the back of my hand on the edge of the sheath and then use my thumb to guide the spine-side into the opening

I have the Molle-back system for my RC5 and wear it on my belt, or use a leather randall-style sheath made by ArmorallLeather (http://www.armoralleather.com/) for scout carry.

My HEST has the belt clip from my RC5 on it, so I can carry it on my belt very easily, and it drops it down almost the whole handle length - very comfortable

Izzy hangs out in my pocket, but I have paracord configured to make belt loops if I need to carry it outside - otherwise, the paracord is wrapped around the sheath and covered with a section of bike innertube.

After trying multiple hardware options and placements, this has turned out to be the most comfortable setup. My only nitpick is not being able to remove the sheath without removing the belt, or cutting the paracord, but the reduced bulk/thickness makes up for that. I can barely feel the sheath when wearing it.

Thanks for the responses, very nice! I have ordered a couple Tek-Lok's for the HESTand will give that a try. I think I will go with a Kydex type sheath that I can slide on my belt for the Izula II. Keep the ideas coming!

Any pics and names of custom leather work for the HEST?
