Any plans for a baby brother to the ZT0560/ ZT0550?

I get the impression that for many of us, that 3.5 inches is something of a sweet-spot for a blend of EDC/overall utility...

...that said, I tend to carry 3.0 inch blades a lot more readily than I do their slightly larger 'cousins' (even irrespective of the ridiculously restrictive UK knife laws!)

Is there any consideration of making a smaller version in this series? I know that Rick Hinderer does the XM18 in 3.5 and 3.0 but just wondered whether the folks at ZT had similar thoughts for developing this line.

Apologies if I missed any earlier threads relating to this. I did do a search but didn't come up with anything.

Thanks all!

Ben

Ben,

You might want to watch for a forthcoming Hinderer-designed model under the Kershaw brand, I believe the 1551Ti.

It has a 2.75 inch blade, Chinese steel, AO, and a street price in the $30-something range. It looks like a shrunken 550/551.

I played with a prototye at an NRA show and it is smoking -- just the thing for pocket-carrying!

ETA is later this year.

I know most people don't like the idea of modifying knives, but if the knife you want is a little longer than you can carry just grind it down a bit (never grind the edge back, always grind down the spine).
On the other hand, modifying knives to be longer is impossible.:(

That would be the Cryo model 1551ti....

How about the Chinese 1/2 brother?

Id love to see a true mine 560. I like the USA made ZT and Kershaw stuff. But living in the horrible state I live in Im kinda leary about carrying any knife over a 3" blade to far from the homestead. I think a mini 560 would sell well and man would be a quick blade.

I for one would love to see a knife built proportionally identical to the 560/561, except be more like 4.5" - 4.75" closed.

I tried the 560 and (as I feared) found it to bee just too long for my personal taste, and the 551/550 are a little on the wide side.

I would buy a mini 560. shrunken down to 2.95" blade and same full specs. 3d machined, laser cut, titanium, kvt, elmax.

I'll give you my credit card right now.

I wish they would make the Cryo in USA...I'd pay blur/shallot prices for it. I love the design but Only use USA knifes for EDC...and Japanese for work because they make some amazing chef knives

Goodness, I'm still trying to sniff the new off my 561. :D

I can't wait until they release that one. I don't often see knives I get excited about, but that one sure got my attention. I will be really surprised if that one isn't a big seller.
Ya I know, it woud be nice if it was made here in the states, but I have a couple knives that were made in China, and I have absolutely no issues with them. If the ones I have didn't say China on the blade, you would have no idea that it was made off shore.
I like that one enough to not let it bother me.
