I love the Core but am ready for an updated Leatherman! Is there anything in the works? 4.5inch or bigger!!!!!

How about a Surge? Has things that the Core lacks, such as outside-accessible blades, bit drivers, a blade exchanger and scissors.

Been there, got that. Carry my Skeletool CX. :)
But the Surge is cool and you can build some muscle just picking it up.

Yep, being a guy that went from manual labor to more white collar office stuff, I too thought the Surge was going to be my be-all, end-all tool. Like Esav, I found it to be a little too robust for EDC. A SOG is now my beefy tool of choice. However, more often than not I am carrying a Skeletool or a Fuse with the ByrdRench and Crunch rotated in as needed;)

However, LM has always managed to tempt me with newer and better gadgets. I have no doubt that their next generation of tools will have me champing at the bit...such is multi-tool sickness:D

It's been said that LM is planning to update the Core this year. I don't know for sure if that's true, or what updates they would do, but it's what I heard.:)

I would definately be interested in an updated Core. I have bought a new leatherman every year for as long as I can remember, and the last 2-3 years 5 or 6 new ones. Next year I will likely only be able to get one or 2 with our economy, so hopefully they do upgrade it.

I just don't like that little screw driver thing and the swap out saw/file. not my cup of tea, I love the Core, but actually would like somthing with just a few more tools on it like a metal cutting saw blade and scissors, in other words a beefed up Core with scissors and Metal cutting Blade added. I am in the Army and that would be the perfect Soldiers Multi Tool, one more thing beef up the pin area at the Blade Lock release.

A Super Tool was my EDC multi-tool for 9 years. It was replaced with a ST 200, then a Core. That was my go to until earlier this year when a sale price to good to refuse put a Surge in my hands. I love it, and so far it has loved me back, but I still keep the Core in reserve for extreme conditions or extended durations. In those circumstances, I would trust it more than the complex Surge design; simple = reliable. The lack of scissors on STs and Core was finessed with a Micra, an excellent companion piece to larger Leathermen.

If I were in the military today, a Core would be my #1 pick. Back when I was in the army, none of these existed. We had just transitioned from horses (:D :D :D , but my Dad actually was in the 1930s horse cavalry). My multitool then was an Imperial Schrade Kamp King, the cheapest knockoff scout knife I could find. It did the job, and was my only for 15 years. The Core is much better :) .

Perhaps Leatherman will turn the Core inside out and produce the next version with all the tools on the outside instead of the inside.

I'd like to see a Wave-sized tool with the Surge's layout (at least the better scissors, I don't feel the that fast access to a file or saw is necessary as both take a while to use compared to a quick snip or slice) and both the PE and SE in a nice steel, but without the fancy expensive and useless handle materials.

Or a needle-nosier version of the Crunch.

Dunno. After some experience with innies and outies, I find both types have their charms. For convenience, accessing implements without having to open handles is obvious, but gripping over them when the tool is deployed is not entirely comfortable. Also, I find that the outside opening
configuration (Surge) has to be de-gunked more often than inside the tool versions (Core) in which tools are sheltered by closed handles. Both suit me fine.
