Okay so I've got a Sog Spec Elite II, I really like the knife but the one thing I don't like about it is the tip up carry. So I wander over to the site to see if they have anything that is tip down. It appears that the answer is a big fat NO! Is there any chance that SOG will ever introduce tip down carry knives? I really like the look of the Tomcat 3.0... but... :(

Most folks prefer tip up. However, you an always move the clip yourself, as I have had to. Any knife that I buy that is tip-down gets the clip moved to permit tip-up.

Personally i prefer tip up especially for my Trident. I can have it out of my pocket and blade deployed in a matter of seconds. I can't imagine doing the same with tip down.

I've considered that. Is it just a matter of drilling the appropriate holes, and tapping them properly? It makes me nervous doing that with a multi-hundred dollar knife...:o

I know it's just what you are used to I guess. My first knife with a clip was tip down as was my second so I am sort of used to it. I can do it the other way but it's not automatic like tip down is...

I carried all my folders tip up for years, and recently found that I'm just a fast deploying tip down. Tip down has the added advantage of not having pocket lint and crap getting stuck in the pivots.
