I love to looks of the new OVB Fisk Bowie but I'm not really hot on the idea of a carbon steel blade (please don't flame me or tell me I don't know how to take care of my gear). Is it possible that there may be a stainless steel OVB Fisk Bowie in the near future??

DanE,
The OVB bowie is a collaboration with Jerry Fisk, master bladesmith. Jerry told us that there were a few thing that he would insist on when we made his knife[which he did], but the VERY FIRST THING was that it HAD to be carbon steel. We will honor his wishes...partially because I've seen him swing a bowie knife:rolleyes:

Thanks for the interest! I think that if you tried the bowie, you would find that the 0170-6C is FANTASTIC for that type of knife.

Thanks for the quick reply sir.
Ok, as long as I know that it's carbon steel or nothing...what type of steel is used and how rust resistant is it? I don't plan on using it as a dive tool but I don't want to have to worry about it rusting away in my gun safe either. Thanks.

Dan,
Not to be rude, but if you can keep your firearms from rusting...
you can keep your carbon knives from rusting too :)
Same basic care for both.
If they get wet dry them and apply a light coat of gun oil (or many of the other oils out there).
For years I've used a Schrade Sharpfinger fishing. It is a little carbon steel knife and it never rusted. All I did was wipe it on my pants leg before I put it in the sheath and wash, dry & give it a zots of WD40 when I got home. It did get that old hammer patina, but that knife was used, alot.
If you just plan on keeping you OVB in your safe (& not cut acidic thing or use in salt water...) it'll be fine.
Gor for it :D

Yes, I can keep my firearms from rusting....good point. Most of my fixed blade knives fall into the utility catagory (Striders) so I was more than a little hesitant to buy a knife that required more care than just scrubbing off the crud when you're done using it. I just placed an order with 1SKS so we shall see.....
