Any Problems with KISS style knives?

I am thinking about buying a CRKT KISS style knife. I have only had a chance to examine one such knife and I was a little put off by a gap betweeen the frame and the cutting edge of the blade.

It appears to me that there is a real potential to slice my hand on the blade while rummaging around in my pocket for change etc...

Are my fears justified? Are there any other problems? Can the blade edge be adjusted to lay closer to the frame?

Thanks...

I've owned two different CRKT KISS knives, and currently have a "peck". My opinion is this, I wouldn't let them jiggle around in my pocket loose. I would use the attached pcoket clip.

Does the possibility exist for them opening accidently and getting cut? Yes, but I'm careful when I carry, because I remeber that possibility.

Also, IMO, they are quite well designed and executed for the price.

YMMV,

I own 3 Kiss knives, and what I've discovered is that when buying, you should examine a few of the same model and compare. Some have edges that will lay flat against the frame when closed, as they are supposed to, and others are a bit off the frame closed. Check the fit and the action/lockup, and you should be able to find a very good one.
BTW, I agree with above that it's best to carry it clipped to the pocket, not loose in the pocket.

I too think they are dangerous but for a different reason. When you grip them tightly, it is possible to disengage the liner lock on them and have them fold up you on you. Try it. If you get a KISS, get the fixed blade version, a good knife for the money. YMMV

Amen to all that's said - I've carried the regular KISS for about a year and a half - no cuts but I'm careful - better clipped that loose in the pocket... and I'd avoid like the plague if you are left handed! all in all a good little knife for the money.
but there are some things to watch out for.

I carry an original KISS as my Moneyclip.

I have had it come partially open a few times but I have not been cut yet.

I am also careful not to use it for heavy cutting because a tight grip will disengage the lock.

It is not a bad knife as long as you recognize and can accept it's limitations.

The fixed blade versions are much better than the folders in my opinion. No matter how hard I try, I cannot open the KISS or PECK with one hand. It is just too damned tight. I've pushed until my thumb went numb, and it doesn't open. I've tried several different KISS's, so I know it wasn't just that one. They are all too tight. And the feel dangerous to have in your pocket. I owned a Neck PECK briefly, I thought it was great.

I don't own a KISS, but I did help to influence (corrupt) one of my friends to get one. I can open and close his with one hand just fine (though the concern about accidentally disengaging the lock does seem a valid one) and the blade edge seals up nicely against the handle when it is closed. He uses his knife as a money clip and seems to love it, no injuries or mishaps yet as far as I know, including on a recent drunken weekend sojourn to Las Vegas..

I cut myself when the linerlock disengaged when I was trying to give it a firm grip. I wouldn't trust it on anything more than opening envelopes.
