Any Ranger Puukko owners out there?

I did the original article on the M95 SISSI puukko and have continued to use it. It is a very practical knife, for me the edge retention has been quite good and it is not at all difficult to re-sharpen. I like the handle as it is large enough for my hand and allows you to exert pressure when you have too. I especially like the sheath as it is very secure, quiet but allows easy access and re-sheathing of the knife. One of my big complaints is that often it is such a pain in the neck to fool around with retention straps, as they always seem to get into the way. My Randall 14 that I carried for almost 20 years had that problem, you basically had to use two hands to re-sheath the knife. With the M95 after you use it for a short time your hand just falls on to the handle to draw it and re-sheathing is equally as easy. JP Peltonen has come out with a new "Plastic" type sheath that is quite good, although I still prefer the older leather one with the plastic liner, it is quieter when something hits it, ie a rifle butt. He has also come out with a new, tougher blade coating. Haven't seen it yet, but expect to soon.

Cliff, thanks for the link.
John, I read that article and remember it well.
It doesn't seem that many forumites have picked one up. Kellam has them on their site, and I am tempted....

It's really hard for me not to buy second one. It is really good kife. I call it modern pukko, military stile. I never read any bad review - everibody like it.

(sorry review in Russian). I bought it here http://www.brisa.fi/sissi.html
2 John A. Larsen.
Thanks for the great article.
What steel it is?
What relation is between J.P.Peltonen and Friskas?

Thanks, Vassili.

Thanks for the kind words reference the article, I really enjoyed using the SISSI (Ranger) M95 puukko while attending David Scott-Donelan's Tactical Tracking Course. The steel is carbon, but I do not have a designation for it. I just talked to JP Peltonen a few days ago and he was leaving for a fishing trip with a friend from Denmark, that he had served with in Kashmir. I will email him and see if he can give me a designation for the steel when he returns.
