I have lost my Spyderco Ladybug and am looking for a replacement. I was happy with the Ladybug, but thought I'd get some advice on what is out there now.

Specifics needed:
Blade less than 2 inches (as close as possible, though).
Openable with one hand.
Lackback.
Would prefer some serration.
Must cost less than $75.

I saw that Spyderco also carries a "MeerKat" and "Cricket" that seem to fit my profile.

If those were my specs. I would get a Serrated Spyderco Calypso Jr. Lightweight. You can pick them up online for under $50 and they have a flat-ground VG-10 blade.

:footinmou Oops. I misread your blade-length limit. The Calypso Jr. is 2 7/8" :(

What about one of those Kershaw Onions? We just got some in the store and they are pretty cool. They are small and under $50, and can come with half-serrated blades.

Thanks, everyone. The Jester is a possibility.

Ashes,
I like the Onion Chive, expect that it lacks serration. I am a little confused by the blade material, though. N. Graham lists it as CPM-44V, while KnifeCenter and 1-Stop show it as 420HC. Did it change? Which is better?

I happened to have on me the CHIVE and the JESTER here at work and while I cannot take a picture right now to show comparison, the CHIVE is about 3/8" longer closed but the blade is only 1/8" longer. CHIVE blade is a tad under 2"....overall closed lenght is 2 7/8 for CHIVE and 2.5 for JESTER.

I love the action on the CHIVE but I have a problem with the smooth sides...almost feels too slick.

Not the greatest looking serrations, but serrations nonetheless.

ps...I'm pretty sure the CPM 440V on New Graham is a typo--as far as I know it's always been 420 on the Chive.

Is the 420 steel a problem? What about it's thickness? -Only 0.09" vs. the Mouse's 0.125".

The blade quality on the Ladybug was noticeably better than on other knives I've owned.

I would suggest a Jester also. It fits your specs and with it you get a choice of handle color
