Any reviews for Extrema Ratio Fulcrum folders?

I was wondering if anyone has ever put an Extrema Ratio Fulcrum folder to the test, and if so, how it held up. I realize they can be quite pricey, but I am looking for a reliable folder that'll go to hell and back. Thanks for any responses.

Walking Man- I have seen the German test that there is a link for here, but I was just wondering if anyone had any first hand experience/interesting stories about the knives.

Yes I reviewed one awhile back, still carry it. Very low cutting ability, among the worse seen, similar with handle ergonomics and security. Lock security and strength and raw blade strength are pretty much near the top.

Cliff- Do you think the glass breaking end of the Fulcrum could break the glass of a subway car should the need arise? My wife and I will be moving to London in a few months and in case of another attack I would like to be able to escape a subway car.

Thanks,
Z3RO

That would depend on the nature of the glass, I have seen heavy tempered glass which was hard to break with a hammer. Breaking glass with the end of the knife always seemed problematic to me because your hand is so close to the glass and it could shard and fall. The fulcrum is very heavy and makes a powerful hammer and if it could not break the window (lexan/plexi-glass or tempered) then likely you would need a massive hammer or glass cutter to do so.

Thanks alot for the prompt response Cliff. Somehow I doubt the Bobbies will fancy me toting around a hammer in the Tube. Guess I'll just have to hope for the best (and swing really hard)!

A hammer would get you in a lot less trouble than that knife would. Locking knives with blades over 3" in length are illegal to carry in Blighty these days. :jerkit:

Maybe that hammer isn't such a bad idea after all! ;)

Gryffin- These knives are really illegal in England? Just out of curiosity, do you live in England, and if so, how tight is the security in the Tubes? I want to protect myself and give myself an option for escape in case of an attack, but I definitely DO NOT relish time in jail just for a knife!

Thanks,

No, I live in the US, but the UK knife law has been a topic of conversation over here for quite a while.

After the bomb attacks a while back, I suspect that tube security is pretty high. An innocent, unarmed Spaniard got his head blown off a few months ago by a UK transit security cop who thought he was acting funny.

to Z3RO,

In Strider knives homepage, there is Comparison test about Extreme Ratio Fulcrum IID vs. Strider GB in FAQ's

I have the fixed version of the fulcrum, and it's more or less a crowbar with an edge! Doesn't come all that sharp, but it's about the sturdiest knife I own.
