I just got one and i like the slim profile of the knife and blade shape.Im just wondering what other folks think of this knife? Any reviews on it? I wish Al Mar would use 154 or s30v or a little better quality steel in there blade's then aus8 in the folders.

I like them, they are comfortable in slacks and light pants, and i have always had a thing for linerless folders ;) but i prefer their more high end knives like the nomad, sere, mini sere, or shrike which do not use aus 8 but vg10

I have the Falcon Ultralite.

I have no complaints about this knife. It is solidly in the "Light Duty" catagory. I call it my sunday knife. The blade material is perfectly fine. If it had VG10, it would have cost a few more dollars which would have been fine as well. I also had one of the FB S30V Seers which I traded off some time ago in favor of a Simmonich Salish.

Here's a short review I did a while back that includes the Falcon Ultralite:

I have the Falcon Ultralight also. Not a heavy duty use knife, but it is a nice slim, light EDC. My normal work clothes are Scrubs and I have found any knife over 2.6-2.7 ounces becomes very noticeable. With my Falcon Ultralight I almost forget it is there.

Only reason I no longer EDC it, is I am saving it for my 2nd Boy. I had that knife in my pocket when he was born.

I gave one to my brother in law. He loved it but complained that "it was great until it got dull". I have a couple of Al Mar's in AUS8, including a Hawk (non ultralight model) that I carry every day and I personally love their AUS8. My Hawk requires periodic sharpening, but it takes a razor sharp edge very, very easily. My dad has a Hawk that he used to break down boxes after moving to a new house. He said he needed to sharpen it after breaking down about 600 boxes. So that kind of puts it into perspective. My dad raves about how sharp he can get his hawk.

So I would sum it up as follows: It's a great knife if you know how to sharpen a knife.

i bought a friend an ultralight hawk for his birthday. nice knife, although the main thing i didn't like about it was the opening was stiff, it was hard to get good leverage on the thumbstud (although the knife you're interested in is larger), and the blade opening felt gritty because the base of the blade rubs against the rough inside of the micrata handles as it opens (because it's linerless), rather than smooth steel liners like in other knives. I didn't like way the blade felt as it opened at all. i also think i'm just more fond of heavier knives.

my buddy loves the knife though.

How it compared to Spiderco Police? I guess much lighter…
I love the blade^ but non-ss Police are hard to find
