Have a Gerber EZ out and would like to know what you all think of it. Thanks for the help mates.

While I wouldn't expect to use it like a crowbar, I've been happy in all other respects. Mine has sharpened easily, cut well, and fit in my pockets comfortably. They are also very affordable.

I had one for a while before they switched to ATS-34. Edge holding wasn't very good but, it sharpened easily. The tip eventually broke off while stabbing a piece of wood. The lock seemed secure, though I've heard others complain that it's kind of weak. For the price, I guess it's not too bad.

I still have an ATS-34 model and use it from time to time. The best thing about the standard EZ-Out is that it's very affordable, razor sharp and very comfortable to carry. I can't say there is anything I don't like about the folder, but if I were to change a few things on it I would add a lanyard hole to the handle.

I had problems with my first two - weak locks. I have a nice scar on my left index finger from cutting kindling and having the lock fail. I do really like these knives and own 5 or 6 (I've actually lost count) and have them all over the place. The price is right, so why not! Just be careful...

I've had an EZ Out Jr. for a number of years (first production run) and it's a fine little knife for the money. I did manage to break part of the tip off at some point, but the softer steel was easy enough to regrind.

For the same money I think that the BuckLite series seems to have a more durable blade. I haven't tried the newer models with ATS-34 though.

I've owned an EZ out for years. It's the old steel, easy to sharpen, cuts well, lite to carry, and I think a very dependable knife. I worked trauma in an ER for several years and I used the EZ out to remove cloth, leather and other material and never had a problem. Lock-up was always good and no one ever made any adverse remarks about it. Good knife for the money.

I have a very old EZ-Out, so I don't know how new ones compare. I really liked the blade shape, and although controversial, I loved the handle. I stopped carrying the knife early on, because the backspring was just not strong enough. I worried about lock reliability, and the knife opening in my pocket. This was definitely a general problem with EZ Outs back then. Haven't handled one in a few years so don't know how the new ones are.

I have used my EZ out hard and have never had a problem with the lock (knock on wood). I am surprised to hear what I hear about the lock but will keep it in mind. Thank you. How much does the Buck Light series go for?
