Looking to buy one of those heart rate / distance monitors.
Looked at the Garmin, seemed kinda big.
I do street as well as trail running so I can't always drive to find the true distance, any help will be appreciated.

I use the bottom line polar model and have no problems last 6 years and running(need to change batteries every 6 months) :D

I have used the better Polar monitor. You can buy a computer interface that allows you to upload the data to your comptuter to plot. Kind of cool!

My $84 Wal-mart purchase has worked well. It is one of those Timex Ironman 50 lap timer Heart rate monitors. I have used it for about a year and find it does a good job for a basic heart rate monitor. Of course, all the timer functions are easy to use and easy to access. YMMV
