ok so this girl said she likes knives ... so i bought her SOG Vision SV68, she likes it.

but i hear that S30V steel is better than ATS34 steel ... but i really like the stylish slim profile looks of the titanium handle and SOG's arc lock also seems pretty nice.

is there something like the SV68 but with S30V steel ? there seem to be plenty of knives with S30V blade and Titanium handle but no mentioning of their openign/locking mechanism which is think is pretty damn important lol :)

ps: i also think a knife shouldnt cost more than $200 because i am not looking for anything custom or hand-made, just excellent performance and style.

ideas pliz ! :)

what about Camillus CUDA Dominator ?

i kinda like angular shape more than curved one ... it just looks more high tech.

androgen, welcome to Bladeforums! :)

Relax. ATS-34 is excellent steel. Lots of people here like that series of SOG knives. S30V is the latest and greatest, but there are many high-end steels, and the real differences among them can be ignored in favor of the heat treatment, blade and edge geometry, handle and lock requirements, and your own pleasure in the knife as a whole.

thanx :)

hm ... why does everybody like benchmade so much ? i dont like the styling at all :(

is that CUDA Dominator not a good product ?

*puts on wig*

I like knives.

Seriously, don't worry about the steels. Something as 'lowly' as AUS8 will do fine with proper heat treat. Plus, who's going to do the resharpening, and what is their level of proficiency?

most likely nobody will do the resharpening :)

ps: lets add carbon fiber handles to the list of considerations :) and maybe upp the cost limit to $250 or so.

but no wood or plastic anywhere, only carbon fiber and metal plizz.

First knife that comes to mind is the limited edition 940/941 Osborne from Benchmade. Titanium handle, S30V blade, Osborne design, and also the AXIS-lock.

They are hard to find, and are expensive when you can find them, but I think they'd be worth it.
