I really love the orange g-10 on my new esee-4! but noticed with the cold, and how dry my hands where it doesnt have quite the grip micarta does

Anyone have any hacks, thinking about using the cone dremel bit possibly, but very open to ideas.

Thanks gents

You could file some ridges in the handle, I also heard if you sand g10 with some coarse sandpaper it could improve the grip. Post some before and after pics

Wear a respirator or at least a good dust mask. G-10 dust is nasty stuff.

Sounds crazy, but I use mineral oil on them, it makes them tacky. I was using the oil to clean and protect my blades one time and got some on the handles, and found they became a little tacky, so I now use it to coat the entire knife however, It will darken your slabes a bit.

Wrap the g10 in duct tape for a couple weeks and continue regular use. Then remove duct tape. Now you have a very grippy handle.

Those are beautiful, any chance of more info, how you did it?

They look great man.

Gonna try some sandpaper as well.

Timely thread! I have the Esee4 with the orange g10, and noticed the same thing. I was considering the dremel option.

I'd also be interested in understanding how you did that 80sgyrene--that looks great!

Just freehand with a dremel and a sanding drum. Helps to have a good eye & steady hand. Wear a dust mask!
I dove right in, but you guys can practice on some scrap first.

It's probably a huge headache, but I really want to try and replicate the "golf ball" texture (a la Chuck Rodgers) on my linen scales. I'm hesitant though, if it will actually make the handle feel smaller due to more of my hand extruding into the grip.
