As my first post on the forums I am nervous and excited about what awaits. Any way, I am a 15 year old knife maker who needs a new grinder. I have been researching grinders and they all seem to be not quite what I wish to have. I am looking for a grinder that,

A. Uses 2 inch wide belts
B. Has different sized and interchangeable contact wheels
C. Has a price writhing 200 dollars +- of a grand
D. Uses 48 Inch belts preferably.

I haven't found anything from major shopping retailers and any custom grinder builders charge what I believe is to much. If anyone has an old one that they are willing to sell or if anyone builds them then please write back.

Much appreciated,
John

I technically can but I would need to take some out of savings. I just wanted something to save up for so I can better plan spending. Do you own a KMG? Also if you know of one for cheaper that would be great.

72" will save you money in the end. Better selection, last longer. I just bought an esteem grinder and m very happy with it. I had a coote, not to bad, but this esteem is much better.

I know at 15 that's a lot of money, but if your goin to do this, it's better to do it wright. I would be money ahead if I had bought a real grinder right off the bat. They hold the resale value at least!

We'll this isn't right off the bat I've had a 4x36 sander for a year now and live it but I would like to start hollow grinding my knifes. But yah I've been saving for a while.

I bought the Craftsman 2x42 first and used it for about a year.It is a good entry level grinder.I still use it for several different things. The KMG is my main grinder.Get one if you can,you have plenty of time to add attachments as you learn different techniques. You can even make your own attachments with a little thought and planning.

Sweet man thanks for the info. On the site it says they are out if stock. Is there like a waiting list that I can be put on or should I just wait until the have one.

I think I would try and contact them and see what's up.They have plenty of options,a Flat Platen and 10" contact wheel combo would keep you busy for a while.
