Hey all, I am thinking of ordering a SOG trident in digi camo with the black clip point 1/2 serrated blade. I really would prefer a full plain edge but they don't offer it in the cool color options. Any of you guys have this folder and if so, what is your opinion on the quality of it. I already have a flash and twitch and think they are nice little knives, but wanted something more serious.

Its not a bad blade but I have heard from somebody's brother's uncle's cousin that many of them have blade play. Mine did. Not a problem but I think it is typical of this model. If you step up the price a bit you would enter Benchmade 710 or Spyderco Military level. These blades are amazing!!!!!

well, I found a deal for the digi camo trident at $47 shipped.. this is an excellent price for a new in sealed box.

i have a trident tanto with no blade play. I go mine for like $60 when it first came out and im pretty satisfied. Sharpens up like a scalpel and fires hard and fast. Its a pretty good deal, i wouldnt want it half serrated though

I have the Trident Tanto. Aside from the tanto part which is kind of stupid, the knife is good, I'd imagine that the clip point version would be good.

I just picked up the Trident tanto last week. It is a fast and fun knife and the assist works very well. There is a very slight amount of side to side play but I that think this is necessary for an assisted opening knife to work. You have to try one out to see what I mean, the play is very minor and doesn't take away from the rugged, durable feel of the knife. The handle is very well thought out. It is comfortable and just looks cool. The digital checkered texturing gives the scales a sort of wet look..going right along with the Trident theme (isn't that the scepter that the god Poseidon carries?)
I never thought I would own a tanto blade knife but I am finding it kind of useful. You can use it like a wharnecliff blade when you need to score things.

I had a trident tanto for a while, blade didn't hold an edge for long but did get darned sharp. also the blade had some play to it. Also it had nylon washers which got gummed up and just plain don't work that well, the spring wasn't too strong in the assisted opening either. I'd look for something else, the one big plus for them is the handle, its absolutely phenomenal!

I have two Tridents. One black partial serrated and one silver, plain blade. Pretty much my goto EDC knife. I don't use the notch for cutting string that much, but the AUS 8 is good at keeping its edge.

I have the Trident Monogram version. Great knife for the price I paid, and I've had it as my EDC since I got it. Good assist and very little blade play.I love the shape of the blade and I find the special blade coating real interesting I'm liking it. My son in law edc's a trident with the tigerstripe finish. He uses his quite a bit and is happy. Sometimes Sog gets a bad rap I think, but they are like Spyderco,Cold Steel, Kershaw -they have staying power and deliver an honest knife for an honest price for us working stiffs who want more than the flea market junk most working stiffs carry ( who pays MSRP). Get it and you won't regret it
:)

I had a SOG Trident and it had so much play in it I returned it. Most of the SOGs I bought had play in them, so I don't buy them any more, except their fixed blades which are great knives.

I can make the lock fail on my desert camo ½ serrated Trident by pushing the spine against my table.
Otherwise i think it's a great design exept for the serrations which i never use.
