As some of you know I was asking questions about the Griptilian and thank all of you for the info! But I placed a order for a Soldat because I think I will like the push button lock better, its not an axis lock, it may not be as strong (or is it) but I see the one sided push design as way easier to operate which is very important for my task. I had to get the plain edge tanto because I think they stopped making the drop point blade and couldn't find any in stock. If this turns out to be anywhere near the Grips quality and smoothness I will be thrilled especially since I had enough money left over for a Byrd Cara Cara 2:D Have any of you knivies have or had a Soldat? thanks ps report to follow

Hey . I recently purchased a soldat tanto. I really like it. To answer your question: the griptilian is infinitely smoother. It is also much thicker out of necessity given the lock style. The soldat is however significantly lighter. It feels great in hand. I'm excited to see how the steel handles the work I need it for. So far I really like it. I would trust the Axis lock more; but for most light duty tasks I'm sure it'll be just fine.
