I just finished this one yesterday. Got the handles shaped just right and thought that instead of my usual nice slick shiny polished stuff I'd try something different, a little texture. Well, this is it. The grooves were just randomly cut into the handles with the edge of a 36 grit belt. Got the idea from Tom Anderson. He does something similar to his scale release overlays with a file. The effect he gets is amazing and really sets the knife off, unlike this thing here.
Anyway, reason I posted the pic, you guys think I should rehandle the blade or leave it like it is?
Thanks for the input!! L6steel

I wouldn't bother Michael. The whole thing is just plain ugly. Send it on up to me and I'll give it a proper burial. :D

Give up the spec'

I like the texturing (sp?) to the handle, but think that a pattern would look nicer than random texturing. I like the choil, nice for that detail work like cutting the hide out around the eyes when you are prepping the squirrel hide. ;)

LOL! That was great, Mongo! Really nice knife, Michael! Hey, I enjoy your sense of humor about the knife's use, too. It looks more like a grizzly bear killer. The extra handle work is attractive and interesting, too.

John, it ain't for dressing'em out. Its for chasing'em down. Get with it big guy.

I was starting to think you all have some awful big squirels where your from.
rlinger thats a nice bird you have in your avtar, about 3 weeks until spring season. I can't wait, I have turkey fever.

You guys have some mighty big squirrels down in Florida! We need to get you together with Harley up here in Tennessee to defend civilization from the Bull Chipmonks! :)

Great looking knife, handle works perfectly with that design!

Michael from what I can see, leave the handle as is; that is cool! Thanks for the idea, which I may adopt myself one day.

Mongo, that is a great avatar! I haven't seen Blazing Saddles for a couple years but that made me laugh again recalling a few choice scenes... There's a DVD I need to find! You get Rep Points for that one. :D

Thanks folks!!
Sorry for leaving off the specs Mark.
It's 2" wide by 3/16" thick L6 and 17 3/8" over all. The blade is 11 1/8" measuring from the front of the handle to the tip. The clip goes back 5 5/8" from the tip and is ground to the center. It has a satin finish on it but I might bead blast it.

IG needs a knife for those bottom feeders he likes. Anyone know what a lobster knife looks like? About the big knife this thread is about, I like the finish on the blade the way it is.

Actually, I can never seem to get close enough to them, so I usually end up throwing the knife at 'em. A few more inches of length though, and it could work for coon hunting. ;)
