As much as I like the BK7, I can tell the handles are a little too thin for my hand grip. I'm 6' 7" with an XXL hand size (extra long fingers). Had a chance to try the BK2 today at local store, and the extra 1/16" of an inch because of the tang made the grip better in my hands.
I know I could use hockey tape, but I really want scales that are a bigger size. I contacted The Knife Connection, and they said their G10 scales are actually a little thinner. I've emailed 710 custom sheaths, but I haven't heard back yet.
Any suggestions for replacement handles that are definitely thicker? Are the Ka-Bar/Becker factory micarta replacement scales thicker? Even thick liners would work. I'm happy with the material of the Grivory scales, so liners would be fine. If I had my choice, I would go with micarta or G10 over wood.
Note: Probably best to avoid making my own due lack of skills and tools. Plus, I'm thinking might get my brother a BK7 for his birthday this spring. He's my size and would have the same problem, and I'd rather not give him my frankenstein homemade solution.
