Any thoughts on Buck 183 Alpha Crosslock and is it the knife for me?

Hey guys, I started the same thread in the General Knife discussion forum yesterday, but didn't get any response. If this is the more appropriate place, can a moderator delete the other one?

I couldn't find too much new information about the newest version of the Buck 183 Alpha Crosslock. I hope this is the right place to ask for some opinions.

I have had a Victorinox Tourist for about a decade and want something different. Recently I tried whittling for the first time and the Vic feels great on some thin sticks that I've found around the local parks, but I don't want to destroy it cutting through branches that are about wrist wide. As I only study for a master's degree in Sweden (I'm from Bulgaria, but plan on staying) I don't have a lot of tools here, so when I found the Buck Alpha Crosslock I got interested in the blade and saw combo.

Basically I'm looking for a (semi-)EDC folding knife that can be used for rough whittling from time to time, any other daily cutting task and the occasional walk in the forest. I don't plan on cutting living branches with the saw - only ones that have fallen down and I'm not a hunter, so won't be using it on game as well.

Do you think the Crosslock will be a good fit for what I want and what do you think about the knife in general?

Hor mor dur e dogen?
The Crosslock won a huge award for Buck in 1994. The most innovative 'Knife of the Year Award.' I was interested in it when it first came out and handled one. For some reason it just didn't fit my hands. Still, I liked the 2 blade option, both locking, lanyard hole and blade shapes. I think it would do what you're desiring.
Good luck in your search. DM

Tack, jag ar bra! Och du? (I'm afraid this is mostly the extent of my Swedish for now =/)

I think I'll be able to see it and try how it feels next week, but if anyone has experience, I'd love to hear your opinions.
