Any thoughts on Directv and TiVo?

We are moving and I am considering dropping Dish for Directv and getting a TiVo... any thoughts or suggestions?

I have DirecTV and like it. My mom and dad have Dish. I like my channel selection better than theirs, more sports and more science-type stuff.

DirecTV is also supposedly doing a bunch of new HiDef channels soon, anyone know about that, costs, etc.?
 
tivo saved my marriage.
not really, but it has made recording what I want to watch easier to view later. There are very few sporting events I watch "live" anymore. No commercials is great!
 
I wouldn't give up my DirecTV/Tivo combo for anything. Be warned, though, because once you have it, it may very well spoil you for watching TV any other way.
 
I'm a Dish customer, and I have a Dish DVR. (same thing as TiVo) It is absolutely the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I'm not all that impressed with DirecTV, and the package I have is actually less money than the same package from DirecTV.
