I just seen a few stag handles Akonuas. Some of th prettiest knives I've ever laid eyes on. Does any one own one? Are they just for show or do they work like Buck knives work??? I think I'm in love.

Also do any of you fine folks have a picture comparison of the Akonua and kalinga next to each other. Would like to see the differance. Looks to me as though the main differance is the kalinga blade is a little heavier.

Goose thanks. I seen the picture you posted back in /march with the Akonua and 119. Thanks for that picture, it helps alot.

Hi K,

I've been looking at those stag Akonua's for a while....but, did not pull the trigger yet. I do have a stag Kalinga and think the Akonua would look sweet with it.

Kalinga stag with 440C steel.

No Prob KY...
I must suffer so that others may learn...

BTW, I prefer the Kalinga over the Akonua. The Akonua looks like a table steak knife to me.
But they're both pretty cool.
Your mileage may vary.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

A table steak knife? I was thinking more of a redneck deer steak knife. I do like that a kalinga though also. Thats a hungry redneck deer steak knife.

Does anyone know any history on the kalinga or akonua designs? When were they first made. How did they get the names??

That was real interesting. Kind of funny that such a nice knife is named after a chair. I know it stands for leadership, just kind of funny to me.
