any thoughts on the automatic ..is it worth the “bucks” ha

The automatic 110 is really nice. I have a pro model s30v and orange g10. As for practical use I personally don’t think it adds a lot unless you have a disability or something that makes two hand openings difficult and most people probably need two hands to close it anyway. I can open and close a standard 110 one handed if I need to but others might struggle to achieve one handed operation in the same manner. I haven’t used mine for any outdoor activities or dirty work because I’m not sure what effects dirt, blood and guts would have on the action.

As for the cool factor, they are very cool ! And I can see where some people could benefit from an automatic 110.

Yes... the word "collection" almost obligates you to have at least ONE in there :cool::thumbsup:
"worth it"?
yes... just because. Now, if you'd asked "is it worth it to include one of the pre-factory conversions" I'd say maybe, depending on how complete you want to be. And remember, 110 + collection = zillions of possibilities!

(by the way, I love mine, both the 110 size and the 112 size, and even carry them on occasion)

For future reference;

It is highly unlikely that when you ask for input on a purchase, that you will ever be discouraged from making it.

This site is full of enablers all too willing to perpetuate their own weaknesses.....

I do however discourage the practice of drinking while knife shopping.
Some pretty weird things show up in the mail afterwards.

I like it. Mine isn't as pointy as a standard Buck 110, which I don't know whether that's a grinding error, or just how they are. The blade is different: it has no nail nick, but it does have a little cutout where the button lock fits to hold it closed (you still release the locked open blade with the back lock).

One-handed Buck 110 without the blasphemous after market thumb stud! It's definitely a keeper.

I have one and will probably have to buy several others, especially the Cerlicam ebony one, this one has the DymaLux handle material. Mine fires hard and locks up solid.

I tried to add a video of the 110 auto opening...didn't work....well it does you have to right click on the little green tab and choose 'open image in new tab' it then sows up at the top of the browser for me. then you can open it and see the action. Hope this makes sense.

I think they are great and if bought right a major value. I had to have one when it came out as I wouldn't buy the conversions but always wanted a 110 auto.

question for those with a 110 auto. does it not lock open if you have a loose grip on the handle? on my 112 auto, if i dont have a solid grip, the blade doesn’t lock open.

Yes that’s because the force is neutralized like a shock absorber. When you have a firm grip the handle is stationary and all the force is leveraged from the pivot making the blade move with more force.
