I own just a handful of fixed blades. But this Darn Dao flash batch has really caught my eye. Full tang , CPM154 , polished G10 , leather sheath. I think I'm gonna have to pull the trigger.

Any thoughts /opinions on this big knife?

I also have two of them. I can think of no conceivable use in my life for them, they are safe queens to me, but they are so pretty I had to have them.

Way out of my price range, but it's a beautiful knife. I wish I could think of a need for it.

They look great and I love CPM 154. What is the intended use of the model? Is it mostly a combat blade?

Again , I can't imagine any real use I'd have for it. But I still want it. Keep trying to talk myself out of it.

I met Bob Lum when I was a Guild member and he was also in the Guild. He made a few Darn Dao models back in the late 80's / early 90's. I purchased one with plans for production. It was classic, beautiful and was made with a Bob Lum eye and skill. At the time, the technology wasn't there to make them so we sat on the knife for almost 30 years until Eric decided it was time. (he "borrowed" the knife when he was young and took it out into the forest to chop with. He's liked it ever since). We didn't figure it would be a big seller, but Bob is gone, there were very few originals and we felt the knife world needed to have this knife made. I also encouraged Bob to make folders until he finally made the Chinese folder (under the tutelage of Ron Lake, one of the best custom makers ever). The first model was a slip joint (I have the prototype) and then he made and we made the Bob Lum Chinese folder.

Well the Darn Dao certainly is a beauty. The CPM-154 , full tang and polished G10 just make it a must-have in my book. Looks exquisite.
