I like the blade shape and steel. An index finger choil would be nice. Overall looks good to me man....

I'm not familiar with that particular blade, but I have a number of Spyderco fixed and folders and have never been disappointed. If you like the design, its really hard to go wrong with Spyderco.

I never even knew Spyderco made fixed blade knives till I came here! Could you post some pics?

I like Spyderco. I have a Meerkat, Endura, and Delica. The Delica and Meerkat are daily carries... my Endura is in my BOB.

Nice knife just not big on the handle feel. Feels "cheap". I thought they had a higher end version of it though with a different handle....

That was a Moran designed knife for Spyderco, it came out several years ago. I looked at one at a gun show, the feel is good in the hand, and for about 80 bucks. I liked it, but I was looking for something else at the time. I would not mind having it though for a light weight knife for hiking, and the VG 10 steel is good, just look at the rep it has in using the Fallkniven F1. Fallkniven in VG 10 has recently gone up for 2009, so if you can pick up the Spyd. knife for albout 75, I think it would be worth it.

Based on the designer I’d say it’s a good knife. I had one but I confess that I don’t think that I used it to actually cut anything with.

Picked mine up on ebay for 110.00 and free shipping:cool: You can find em if ya look man......

I think one showed up on the exchange here LNIB for around the $60-70 range a few weeks ago. All you got to do is look around and you can find it for a good price.

I looked at both of those a year ago in the factory store and decided on the Street Beat. I thought the Moran tang was too long also. I didn't like the way the cutting edge was far from my hand. I like how close the cutting edge of the street beat is to my finger because of the choil.

As I said, I bought the SB, but when I took my bro-in-law to look at knives he fell in love w/ the Moran and got one. To each his own, right?

Mr. Glesser has talked about the Moran in tha past. I forget why Mr. Moran designed it that way, and I can't search, but it is an interesting story. If you can find an orginial one with the mirror finished blade- get it.

I've got both the Street Beat and the Bill Moran. The Street Beat is unquestionably the better knife, but the Bill Moran is half the price, is also made of VG10, and comes with a Boltaron sheath with G clip that is equal to the sheath supplied with the Street Beat. The Bill Moran is a bit lighter, has a thinner blade, lacks jimping on the spine, and has a plastic handle (instead of Micarta as on the Streat Beat) but i am happy with it as a cheaper EDC fixed blade.

The new Spydy Temperance 2 really caught my eye, but it is quite a bit more than the Moran....

that's a nice knife for hunting. The blade has a nice belly for skinning, and the length is just the size i prefer. If anything I'd want a little more drop in the point but this would suit me fine as is.
