Alright. I know its illegal for a minor to purchase a new knife anywhere in CA, but, it seems that i can buy an "antique" knife, or a knife out of an antique shop because it goes from being a "weapon/tool" into a "collectors item". Don't go and blow my cover now, but could this really be true? Have i found the holy grail of <18 loopholes?

If you're under 18, can't you just go in with your parents and buy one? Or buy it on the 'net and have it shipped to your house?

Edit to say: The other reason you might be able to buy one at a flea market is because the sales person either doesn't know about the law or doesn't care... Different than a knife speciality shop that would be more apt to care.

there isnt anything that i can find in the california penal code that would prohibit a minor from owning, carrying, or purchasing a knife.

los angeles has a municipal code prohibiting minor possession, but i imagine businesses choose not to sell to minors for liability reasons.
