Trying to join the traditionalists out there.

I just purchased myself an early Christmas present. I found a brand new Tidioute Mink Skinner online in burnt grizzly for $73.00 shipped. Don't know anything about the knife and obviously wasn't able to hold it before the order however I liked the fact that it was 3.5" and has matching blades. Can any of you share your thoughts on the knife, the pros and cons.

Also, is it possible to put a convex edge on a knife like this? I can convex a piece of rebar razor sharp with a strop and some 2000 grit but I do nothing but damage when I try and use stones.

I'll put up some pictures and give my own review when the knife arrives.

It looks very appealing - I just wisht it was spread over 4" rather than 3 1/2" :)

I've convexed a few slippies with success and I do it on a strop with sand paper, GECc can be easily made scary sharp
just be sure to take the right amount of material away the first time, rise the edge (steeper angle) and you're good to go, they get really sharp ;), start with some 320 and go up to 1200/2000 and then strop.

regarding the #66 mink, I'm trying to sell mine, it's a nice 3,5" knife but somehow it's a bit "small" to me and I usually like small knives
it's light and pretty thin but I can't seem to like it fully, and I already had sold one and then bought it again...

so to me it's a nice knife but the 66jack is much better, I have a UNXLD one and prefer it over the mink, has slightly thicker blade too
I also prefer case's muskrat to this one

There's a youtube post which does a lot to show the scale of the thing

Here are a couple pictures of mine, same grizzly bone, compared to a Case Texas Jack.

It's actually a little shorter and slimmer than the Case, and I also prefer the round bolsters.
Great small carry knife for me, as I find a slender clip blade the most useful of all for EDC.

I appreciate everyone who took the time to respond with comments on the mink. After seeing those pics by BM and watching the youtube video I'm even more pleased with the selection. I really wanted a blade that I could slip in my front pocket and forget about. I'm a bit of a minimalist, keys, wallet, phone and an Izula I used to carry in my rear pocket. This knife is replacing the Izula as my EDC. I really like the traditional look. This blade I hope it will serve all my daily needs. The 3.5" frame was a bonus in my opinion.

Now I sit and wait.

a finer comparison to compare sizes than black mambas would be difficult to produce. i added this comparison only to give a little variety.
