Hey guys,
Anybody have any tips regarding the reshaping of handle scales made of g-10? Currently, the scales are a big of a rectangular block. I would like to round them out a bit and make them much more ergonomical to my hand! I don't have a sander, but have lots of files, sandpaper, and elbow grease!

Also, the handle is to tall (if that is the correct word... making it so that my hand does not comfortably fit around the handle due to smaller hands). If after many handle-metal cooling breaks, is it ok to file away perhaps about a 1/4 inch of steel?

I am also putting new handles on my Becker BK-09. Making them out of a new red cutting board purchased from a grocery store. Will be tedious work without a grinder, but lots of elbow grease, sandpaper and a file should do the trick!

Thanks for your time!
Ron

IIRC the G-10 dust is toxic. So, be careful with it.

It is toxic at that. Please wear a full respirator mask. DREMEL works, if you're good, belt sanders work well too. If you are doing it by hand, start with a heavy grit (40/ 60) and work your way up, to a fine wet dry. That's all I got. Good luck and post pics. Moose
