I am getting a rotary platen next week. Do you have any tips for me?
I already read some of the posts that discussed rotary attachment. Is there anything I need to know that was missed in previous discussions?

Thanks,
Alex

Would that be stuff you missed or stuff we might not have anticipated you'd want to know? :D

It is a tool for experimentation. Three distances between centers and an adjustable tension allow for a lot of possibilites from convex grinding blades to finishing flatground blades to contouring handles to sharpening. It's a very useful attachment.

Have fun and experiment. :)

The part that seemed unclear to me from the other threads was how you plunge. Sounded like there was a lengthy learning process on getting nice clean details.

BTW I started to think about getting Rotary attachment after I tried graphite tape on my flat platen. I just loved it. Unfortunatly there is a big problem with grahite tape - it gets compressed where you grind and you don't have flat surface any more.
