Hey Bheads

It finally happened. Snagged my belt clip and bent the crap out of it. I love everything about this setup, except the huge lip on the clip and knew it would probably happen one day.
Any tips on bending it back?

My little eskabar, well loved and beat on daily...now sits alone and cold while I destroy a mora :thumbdn:
If anyone is wondering, the scales I modded from tweener scales (graciously gifted by a fellow member)

The clip always had the little bend in the middle, when brand new.

Derr just realized this may be best in the kabar section.

Can't help with the question, but I just wanted to say that I absolutely LOVE the look of that beat up 14. That's how it should be, imo. Good on ya!

Apply pressure right at the bend at the top. I used a vice the couple time i caught mine before I gave it away. Take it off the sheath and then just squeeze it right where the curve of the bend is.. I hope that makes sense.

If you don't have a vice you could try pliers. I fixed a similar clip on the back of a tape measure by taking the narrowest needle nose pliers I had and using them on the top of the clip. Slide the pliers in, grab the top of the bend (the middle of the curved part) and use a twist it back down. Don't try to do it all at once. Do a little on one side and then move to the other and then back again. I used a bit of tape on the jaws of the pliers to prevent scratches.

Hope this helps.

Personally I'd remove it from the sheath and bend it by hand. Gentle gradual pressure should work, I'd also put counter pressure on the bend in the middle to straighten it out. Then I'd get some pliers and bend the lip in a bit. Granted that is what I'd do.

Stick a pen at the bend nice and tight. Place large amount of weight on it, leave it overnight. Happened to me. Worked.

I just bent it back by hand. it still sticks up ~2 mm, but that doesn't make much of a difference.
If you have a vise, use that. It would probably do a better job.

I have never tried bending back the TDI clip as I have not run into this problem yet. But I have bent other similarly styled clips like this. I removed the clip from the sheath and used a combo of pliers and hand pressure at the bend like Cham suggests and I got the clip to "recover" to its original position, albeit it was a bit scratched up but it worked nonetheless. Good luck.

Isnt the belt clip attachment under $20? just a reminder if anything, and i too love the look of that eskabar
