Any UK Waki's gone in?

It seems when it comes to blades such as these I'm always doomed to miss the boat, but was wondering if any of these have gone directly to the UK?

I ask to due the rather frustrating legislation coming in regarding swords recently, preventing ownership of katanas.

I'm unsure whether these would be considered a katana due to the relatively straight and short blade.

Lastly, have I missed the boat totally on one of these? If I can get one into the country I can think of few blades I'd rather own (maybe an AK along there).

Thanks for any help

My suggestion for residents of the UK is to RUN! Escape while you still can!

I'm sure that's of no use, but wow, I feel for you having to put up with nonsense laws like that. There are some frustrating laws here in Canada, especially for me as a gun owner, but I'll always be glad I don't live in England.

Good luck importing one of these sweet blades.

I wish you luck in this endeavor for I failed to get into Japan. Unfortunately customs has decided that Waki was a weapon and returned it to the sender. Thanks Eric for helping me and giving me a full support.
I need to change country to enjoy some more freedom.

The UK and Denmark are pretty close when it comes to freedom killing legislation and other such things. The blade may be legal to import, but make sure you check with Royal Mail if they can transport something like that (and make arrangements with UPS or FedEX if they can't.)

I say this, since the Danish Postal Service now have a rule that prevent them from handling "weapons", so you can have a kitchen knife sent to you from abroad, but it will end up in customs and no-one can ever touch that package again. It cannot be sent to you, and it cannot be returned to the sender, effectively putting it in Limbo.

I wouldn't want something like that happening to your $400 blade.

The way you order is outlined here:

My condolences to anyone stuck in one of these stalinist regimes. Good luck on getting your Busse / Swamp Rat loving.

Regards, Les.

Ouch. I do not believe there is anything official written by Swamp Rat stating that its a sword. Perhaps you can have it termed a machete since that is what the video is showing and what the vast majority of reported uses have been as a machete. The blade, at least mine, has about a 1cm difference between the spine at the tip and rocosso and the center of the blade, making it slightly but noticeably curved. I do not know if this helps at all.

Iamtoast: Thanks.

I don't suppose you could possibly confirm the absolute length of the blade could you? From top of the scales to tip of the blade?

I'm pretty sure I'm inside the legal limit on this (50cm) , and I'm certainly not going to miss out ^_^

According to my rulers, 17.5" is ~44.5cm. My blade is under 17", though I guess it depends a little on where exactly it is measured from but this should still provide ~5cm of fail safe.

What??? Japan??? What about all the japanese swords there? Aren't they legal to buy for everyone?

I believe the Busskin shipping department usually label items as "Camping Tools".
I think every thing I've had from the 3 Bussekin companies and the Busse Company store has been labelled like that.
