ROAD LIFE... Road life? RickJ are you taking it on the heel and toe at the end of this year? Where are you going? What will you do when you get there? Are you coming back?
Good idea for a thread: What knives to you take on a journey? A 110 and a 124 are good choices.
I had visions of a grand road trip: Try to set the speed record traveling from Terra Del Fuego to the arctic circle (Road Fever), motorcycle tour the West (Easy Rider) or wear the wheels off the RV (Travels With Charlie).
Cormac McCarthy. Not the funniest author I've ever read. The book THE ROAD was good as was the movie of the same name. All that dark and all that cold...
I guarantee that you will need some knives.
I heard some talk all the way over in this neck of the woods that the 124 may return to normal production.
I have two ordered from Larry Oden and he promised to let me know when he hears something. So far nothing from him.
I emailed Larry last night and his reply was that they have not been built yet, at least not the ones he has on order. IIRC it was stated that February/March was the expected time frame, at least I got that impression so perhaps next month will see these shipping. I've waited. am currently waiting close to a year for other knives from other makers so this should be rather quick by comparison.
Was also wondering if, with Buck doing a run like this, some of the retailers that used to get them from time to time, (Bass Pro or perhaps it was Cabelas) will also get some with different scale options?
Hopefully, this will bring 124 prices on eBay down some. Sellers are asking - and GETTING (??!!) CRAZY prices for 2nd and 3rd-rate knives. This has nothing to do with the 124, but someone on eBay is currently trying to get $50 for a 120 with a broken blade! The blade was brazed back on. Insanity.
