while I'm preparing myself to get another Busse "Classic", I would like to pick your minds about the oldskool SJ. I know it's desirable, and so, but do any of you use their's? I've seen UJ's pics, but I would like to see and hear other's experiences with it.
thanks folks,

Someone here (was it one of hte Banned???) swore it was the best overall knife he owned. He hacked away at stuff with a fury with it.

I prefer a BA3 just because a knife of this weight/size isn't really a good hacker/chopper at all anyhow.

It is still my favorite blade. You can do camp chores, light batoning, light chopping. It'll cut things small to large. It gives you a long blade length without the tall height of an Ash or SFNO. You can get one from a 3/16" slicer up to .25 brute. It carries discreet in the right sheath. The handle is open at the back which I personally like. Add liners to the slabs and it fills the palm very nice.
It feels bigger than it is. Gives you some reach if you need it.
It is what I carry when I'm out day hiking in areas away from people ... just incase.

I call it "Little Big Knife"

Jerry opened a car with one.

If you don't have to chop logs (substitute batoning) it's one of the best all-around knives Busse has made. Great for situations where you don't want/need the extra weight of a huge chopper. I'd say the SAR-8 fills a similar role, judging by the reviews it's been getting. Lighter weight, less blade height, very versatile.

I've got one of the.25" thick ones woth full flat grind and asymetrical edge. I mean to use it but it's not really in the rotation due to the crappy sheath. It is a great blade with clean lines and is also the sharpest Busse I own. Even sharper than than the sar8, and that's saying something.

I use mine in the kitchen, and also take it camping.

One of the best blades to come out of the shop. Ever. Period.

IMHO:)

Yager,
Is that an old school, Meaner Street at the top?!! That knife looks awesome!! Who convexed it for you? If that's your work.....I commend you. I just bought a .196 blk/tan on black crinkle Meaner Street from my friend RussMo, and it's definitely my favorite small Busse. I need to seek out an old school 5/16 Meaner next......I'm a sucker for a fatty!!

I have always been tempted by the SHSJ....it just has such good "lines"....so does the SHBM...expensive though...so never took the plunge...but ironically if you took all the Busse's I have there is way more money invested than it would take to have a SHSJ LE and a SHBM 1-300 as users...:o so I guess I really need to think whether I should sell some and get what I like the most:thumbup:
