So, have this vintage really amazing model. Super hard to find. As in not possible. They made only 500. This is 288/500.
Black Dymondwood and Ivory white micarta.
Presentation box, never carried. No scratches, blade is mint.

Problem: Some of the ink from the original pamphlet has leached onto the Ivory micarta I think they call it. Can it be polished out? I haven't touched the knife. Can I send this to Benchmade to look at?

The fine line coming off the screw has zero feel to it. Looks like a crack but microscopic. you cannot detect it with finger.

Acetone formula, structure, and properties.

will remove surface stains.
(so do not use on dyed knife scales!)
depth of stain is another matter.
just how quicky acetone works
depends on the strength
of the acetone solution.
note that it also dissolves plastics ...

I will definitely try acetone, carefully. See what happens. Thanks.

unlike smooth surfaces
be wary of textured or rough surfaces.
be on the look out for trouble
areas with pores and crevices
which can trap the flow
of dirty liquid from the wipe downs.
the trick is to use a clean rag
or cotton balls and especially
not to go over the affected areas or spots repeatedly with soiled
cleaning materials.
good luck!

Try mineral spirits instead. It’s a less harsh version of Acetone. Much less chance to mess up your knife and zero chance to mess up your hands.

Thank you. I’m definitely wearing nitrile gloves. It’s 100% working with acetone. I have mineral spirits to may try that. Much lighter. The ink is drawing out I think.
