Anyone know what new Victorinox models/features might come out this year or soon?

What features would you like to see in a new SAK? Realistically, no light sabers ;)

I'd like one that had a spark-lite or something similar built-in, a whistle, a slide-out sharpening rod, a compass, a led light, beefier scissors like the one in the Leatherman Surge that's reported to be able to cut pennies, locking blades, grippier scales, and maybe a small compartment to stash pills or tinder.

I think these are all things that Victorinox could do without having to charge a lot more than what they're currently charging. In some cases, they already have the things I want but in different models.

I want a lightsaber on my SAK! :p

well, why not an auto fitting wrench, and a locking blade for 91mm models, as Wengers does? these are the 2 things I prefer in Wenger's knives

also, why not to put a diamond coated file on some models, as the one in Leatherman's?

I also would like them to sell a set with other bits for the cybertool, such as other sized torx and hex bits... this one I would buy for sure!

Most larger multitools can cut pennies with the _wirecutters_. Would be interesting to have a scissors that strong, but it would make for a very thick SAK layer.

small compartment:The Huntsman and Spartan 'LITE's have extra space under the phillips driver (I keep spare batteries for the white LED there).

spark-lite or something similar built-in: Well there was the camp-flame, but they apparently didn't work/sell well enough.

a whistle: There is one with the whistle (58mm?)

a led light: The Huntsman LITE, Cybertool LITE and Spartan LITE all have a fairly bright white LED built in.

a slide-out sharpening rod, a compass, grippier scales: These could be done yourself, by modifying the plastic scales...

SAKs are cheap enough that modifying them is feasable (void your warranty though)

Locking blades in the 91mm models would be nice though.

I grew up on slip joints, so I really have a hard time understanding why so many want locking blades on the standard size SAKs. I have never had one close on me.....ever.
I am very curious to see what lies down the road since Vic bought Wenger.

Well, you can handle an SJ and so can I. Unfortunately, I have to be extremely careful who uses my knives. I worry about others.

A locking blade is not necessary, but would be nice to have the option.

Fair enough, I can see your reasoning. ;)

I hope they change the can opener to the hook style. I seem to open cans faster with those can openers compared to the Vic ones.
And maybe they can learn from Wenger and design some snazzy looking scales. More for us to collect!

It would be nice if Victorinox would add some models to their alox range. I have knives like the Soldier and the Farmer and they are absolutely great. I only wish they would make some with more features. An alox Climber or Huntsman for instance, so including scissors and the small blade.

I think the best thing about the vic can opener is the phillips driver on the end. (the only way to get a phillips driver in an alox model?)

Though hook-type openers are faster for me too, I wouldn't trade the dual feature version for one.

I would like to see a locking blade. I haven't had one close on me either but I like not having to worry about it. While they are at it why not just put a frame lock on the Soldier.

The one thing I would like to see from Victorinox is a “Build Your Own” option on their website. I could imagine the prices, full retail plus custom build charge and postage from Switzerland! It might be worth it.

Custom SAK ordering would be super. I'd easily pay alot more for a model which has exactly the tools I want. I'd like to see the diamond file idea appear. The diamond sharpener in the scales is a cool idea also, but might be difficult to do without making the scales thicker.

a measuring tape would be nice...a firestarting tool be nice too like a ferrocium rod on a mount...
